The CPER Verre project is supported by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as well as by the State (Ministry of Higher Education and Research), the Brittany Region, the CNRS, Rennes Métropole , the departmental council 35.

Context

The objective of this CPER is to create a center of excellence in research, training and innovation in the field of lenses. The three main areas of research of this center, which are clearly part of the "7 strategic innovation areas" for Brittany, are
    • glasses for photonics
    • glasses for health / environment
    • glasses for energy

This CPER will notably allow
    • set up ambitious and interdisciplinary research and innovation programs
    • facilitate technology transfers
    • pool scientific and technological resources

The financing of the CPER should make it possible to create the following technical platforms / equipment, some of which have already been acquired or are in the process of being acquired:
    • Glasses synthesis technical platform
    • Shaping glasses technical platform
    • Thermomechanical characterisation of glasses technical platform 
    • Bioglasses technical platform
    • An X-ray thermo-diffractometer
    • Optical and electron microscopy
    • Quantitative imaging technical platform 
    • Fast imaging coupled with micro RAMAN technical platform 
    • Optical characterisation technical platform 
    • Electronic characterisation technical platform
