Igor Koshevoy was born in 1976 (St.-Petersburg, Russia) and graduated from St.-Petersburg State University, Department of Chemistry, in 1999. He obtained his PhD degree under the supervision of Prof. S. P. Tunik in 2002 from the same University. After post-doctoral stays at the University of Toronto (Canada), University of Joensuu (Finland) and the University of Valencia (Spain) in 2003–2006, he joined again the University of Joensuu (now University of Eastern Finland, UEF, since 2010) as an Academy of Finland post-doctoral researcher for the years 2007–2009. In 2011 he was awarded a docentship at the UEF, and in 2012 he was appointed as an associate professor. In October 2014 he became a full professor in inorganic and organometallic chemistry and since then continues working at the UEF leading the Inorganic Chemistry group at the Department of Chemistry.
His research interest is focused on synthetic inorganic and organometallic chemistry of late transition metals, non-covalent interactions, self-organizing metal-based supramolecular systems (particularly those of coinage metals), non-covalent interactions, and organophosphorus compounds with an emphasis on producing light-emitting molecular materials. Prof. Koshevoy is a co-author of 144 publications in peer-reviewed journals and of 3 patents.
