ISCR-IPR joint conference - Patrice Malfreyt

Multi-scale simulation of polymer materials
ISCR/IPR conference - Patrice MALFREYT

The Rennes Institute of Chemical Sciences (ISCR) and the Rennes Institute of Physics (IPR) are pleased to welcome in Rennes Patrice Malfreyt (Institut de Chimie de Clermont-Ferrand - SimatLab - Université Clermont Auvergne, France).

In this presentation, he propose to show some examples of multi-scale simulation of polymer materials carried out in the SimatLab joint research laboratory.

Multiscale simulation consists of transferring information from the microscopic scale to the mesoscopic scale in order to converge the thermomechanical properties of polymer materials and account for the chemical nature of the monomers.

He will present:

  • the main advantages of such methods, but also the current limitations of these multi-scale approaches,
  • examples of modelling in the context of polymer-drug interaction using molecular approaches as part of the collaboration with the Clermont-Ferrand University Hospital.
