Olivier Galangau obtained his PhD in chemistry in 2011 from École Normale Supérieur de Cachan (France) under the supervision of Prof. P. Audebert working on Bodipy derivatives for luminescence applications. He spent several years studying the photophysics of photochromic derivatives, first in the group of Dr. P. Yu at Institut de Chimie Moléculaire et des Matériaux d'Orsay (ICMMO) then in the group of Prof. T. Kawai Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST) in Japan as a JSPS fellow. Then, he was appointed in 2014 Assistant Professor of the NAIST-CEMES International Collaborative laboratory where he developped new photoactive compounds for STM.
In 2016, he moved to Institut des Sciences Chimiques de Rennes (ISCR) as one year assistant professor in the groupe of Prof. S. Rigaut, working on novel organometallic Ru (II) bis-acetylide derivatives for smart materials fabrication. In 2017, he joined the groupe of Dr. F. Pointillart where he developped new Single Molecular Magnet (SMM).
He was finally appointed CNRS researcher in October 2018 in the group of Prof. S. Rigaut. He is interested in developping new type of smart molecular/supramolecular materials, combining light- and/or electro-switchability.
