Introduction

The Institut des Sciences Chimiques de Rennes has 2 shared cryogenic devices dedicated to the study of the physics of condensed matter. The SQUID magnetometer (MPMS) and the multifunctional magnet (PPMS) allow the measurement of fundamental properties of the material; magnetic, thermodynamic, electronic and thermal transport properties in fields of application ranging from magnet molecules to glass and ceramics, thin films or organometallic materials.

SQUID Magnetometer (MPMS)

Magnetic susceptibility measurements AC, DC, SAR and in situ by optical fiber integrated in the sample holder.
Temperature range: 1.9K to 400K
He3 probe for T<0.5K
Max field strength: 5 Tesla (50,000 Gauss)
Sample rotation system
Field resolution: ±0.1 Gauss at 0.5 Tesla; ±1 Gauss at 5 Tesla
Measurement accuracy (SAR mode): ≤1.10-8emu at 0.25 T

EPR Spectrometer

Elexsys E500 X-band CW continuous wave X-band spectrometer.
77-300 K measurements (nitrogen cryostat).
Solution, powder or rotating crystal measurement.
